Hairdressing and Cosmetology Transfer to Barbering
Are you a Licensed Cosmetologist looking to expand your service offerings with an additional license in Barbering?
We are excited to offer a Cosmetology to Barbering Transfer Course! This new part-time program allows licensed cosmetologists like you to apply 300 hours of your cosmetology training towards the 600-hour Barbering course. With this transfer, you can complete the Barbering requirements in half the time.
Upon successfully passing the New York State Board practical examination, you’ll earn the additional title of Licensed Barber, expanding your skill set and client base!

What You Will Learn
Continental School of Beauty’s Hairdressing and Cosmetology Transfer to Barbering 300-hour program is a part-time day program (Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 9:30am – 4:45pm) and may be completed in just over 15 weeks at the Rochester campus.
Here’s an overview of what you will learn:
Haircutting & Styling
From classic to modern haircutting techniques, you will learn clipper cuts, fades, and layering.
Shaving
From straight razor shaves to hot towel treatments, you’ll learn traditional and modern shaving techniques.
Facial Hair Grooming
You will learn techniques for beard shaping, mustache trimming, and straight razor shaving.
Tools of the Trade
From hair clippers to styling products, you will learn the landscape of grooming products, tools, and equipment.
Management Skills
Build a strong foundation in business management and salon operations.
State Laws and Regulations
Understand the laws, regulations, and licensing requirements in New York State.
Possible Career Paths
As a Licensed Barber, you will be able to showcase your skills and creativity, while contributing to the grooming industry with the following potential career paths:Barber: Work in barber shops or salons, providing haircuts, beard trims, shaves, and other grooming services to clients.
Freelance Barber: Work independently, providing barbering services on a freelance basis for private clients, events, or special occasions, offering personalized grooming experiences.
Barbershop Owner/Manager: Establish and manage your own barbershop, overseeing operations, staff management, client relations, and business development.
Product Developer: Contribute to the development and formulation of grooming products tailored to the needs and preferences of barbers and their clients.
